The winners of the Suzann Bardwell Memorial Scholarships were announced at the annual convention in Nacogdoches April 27-29. The announcement was made by scholarship chairman Jim Bardwell.

Allie Tribe of Decatur, daughter of former Wise County Messenger publisher Kristen Tribe, is the high school recipient.

Garrett Cook of White Oak was a repeat recipient. He earned the college level scholarship this year after being awarded the high school scholarship previously.

Over the years, NETPA has helped college-bound journalism students with tuition and books through this scholarship program which is funded by private donations and through the annual auction held at the convention.

Scholarships will be payable to the registrar of the college/university upon proof of enrollment as a full-time student majoring in journalism.

Applicants must be from the geographic area served by NETPA and have a declared major in journalism/communications/photojournalism. Preference is given to print majors.
